Today the news went public – an autobiographical piece I wrote recently for the Jarrold 250 Short Story Competition was awarded with a special commendation and it is now available to read at their website, along with the four winning stories, all inspired by everyone’s favourite Norwich Independent Department store. On the same page are links to stories especially commissioned from writers such as Elly Griffiths, D.J. Taylor, Rachel Here, Henry Sutton, Peter Goodrum, Cressida McLaughlin and Elizabeth Haynes. What a thrill to be amongst those luminaries….

My thanks go to Book Department Manager Holly Ainley for organising this event and for publishing my story online. I do hope you will find time to read it – maybe you were in The Pantry Restaurant on 4th February 2016, when Joe Stirling and launched ‘Escaping Hitler’ together in front of over 200 people?
